9/11 2001, the World Trade Center collapse after an unprecedented terrorist attack. The US quickly designate the culprit and his accomplices: Osama bin Laden and the Afghan Taliban. The next day I go to Peshawarar in Pakistan near the tribal areas and the border with Afghanistan. From September 14 demonstrations in support of fundamentalists in Kabul and the head of al Qaeda are organized by the movement "Jamiat Islami Taloba".
I am struck by the youth activists who come in numbers to these gatherings. In front of one of the most radical madrassas of Peshawar every day they cry their hate of the West and the Jews. I find myself immersed in the crowds, still reeling terrible images seen on September 11 while they applaud those responsible for these attacks. Paradoxically I have at no time felt any insecurity facing these young faces, these ingenuous looks. 15 years have passed. These portraits are they feasible today?
