Senegalese wrestling

Senegalese wrestling is the most popular sport in Senegal. Combat sport, it integrates boxing hence and it called "wrestling with strikes." In addition to its sporting dimension it is also accompanied by a cultural and mystical dimension. The fight is haloed many rituals and ceremonies to ward off bad luck before each fight. Beyond the physical preparation there is a procession of marabouts around athletes in the arena of competition. Their ritual baths and amulets are supposed to give the victory to their wrestler.
